Washington: Days 4-10 (Compact Version)

Since it’s been so long, and I really don’t remember all the details anymore, here are the notes I made for myself about the rest of my vacation. They are in pretty rough form, but they serve their purpose well enough. Perhaps at some point I’ll come through and clean it up a bit.

Washington: Day 3

This morning, my dad and I took the bus into Seattle. The plan was that we would leave mid-morning and walk around downtown doing some of the “touristy” stuff they have there. However, we left a bit later than originally planned, and we wound up on the last bus that was going over Mercer Island. Mercer Island is in between Renton and Seattle, and going around it would take about an hour. So we were really glad to catch the last bus. That was when things got fun…

Washington: Day 2

I woke up yesterday having slept pretty well. It felt good to get a full night’s sleep after the long day of travel I had on Thursday. After getting up and ready, Dad and I walked to the bus stop to head into his office. Kris (my dad’s boss) wanted to talk to me about working for KUE Digital, which is the company I have been doing some contract work for.

Washington: Day 1

Yesterday was a loooooong day. I woke up at about 5:40am and showered and got ready to go to the airport. I got there at around 7:20am, and my flight left at 8:35, so I went through security and did the whole “hurry up and wait” thing. Five hours of cattle-car airlines and two packed planes later, I arrived at the Seattle airport. Now, Seattle is two hours behind Kansas, so even though it felt to me like mid-afternoon, it was barely noon here.

Vacation: Day 6

I am typing this from the airport, because I am sure that tonight when I get home, I will be interested in little else other than sleep. Today was a good day overall, but the last day of a vacation is always a little depressing. You realize that the next day you will be right back where you started, chipping away at the daily grind stone that is your life. Ah well… c’est la vie.

Vacation: Day 5

Today I spent several hours just walking around downtown Estes Park. I have done this before, but never so extensively. I spent about four hours strolling along and walking into nearly every store. There were a few surprises (seriously, who needs a Nebraska Huskers store in Colorado?!), and quite a few interesting places that I probably would have passed by if I wasn’t actively looking for such things.

Vacation: Day 4

I was much more awake last night when I talked to Becca. She refreshed my memory of some of the stuff I didn’t remember from the night before. All I have to say is, “Whoops.” Next time, I’ll try to keep the filter in check just a little more.

Vacation: Day 3

I talked to Becca last night, and I remember only bits and pieces of our conversation. Apparently I can be very entertaining when I am half asleep. It would seem that my brain-mouth filter turns itself off, so anything I am thinking comes right out without being censored. I will have to figure out a way to coerce Becca into telling me everything I was saying.

Vacation: Day 2

Well, I didn’t sleep too well last night, but I think that was mainly due to the fact that I am really not used to sleeping in a twin bed. Ah well, I am sure that I will sleep well tonight.

Vacation: Day 1

I am posting this the next morning, because I was far too exhausted last night to do so. The first day of my Colorado trip went extremely well. It was, however, an obscenely long day overall.
