For those who don’t know about my moving situation, it goes a little like this:
Last fall, I talked to the management at my complex about moving into a bigger apartment. We set everything up so that when a few of my friends moved out of their apartment this fall, and all was kosher. Then, about three months ago, management changed at the complex, and everything was thrown into a big bag of #_$!. At the same time, Tyler, one of my friends currently living in the apartment that I will be getting, mentioned to me that they may be moving out at the end of April instead of July. We worked everything out with the complex, and just needed to finish the final paperwork when one of Tyler’s roommates backed out, saying he didn’t have time to move then. We talked about pushing the whole process back a month to the end of May, but Tyler and his roommates dragged their feet too long. So it began to look like I would move in August like originally planned.
Now we come to this past week or two. Apparently, Tyler and his roommates still haven’t given official notice to the complex that they do not intend to renew their lease. This means a few things, but most importantly, it means that I can’t put a deposit down on their apartment. The dangerous thing there is the fact that if I don’t get my deposit in before someone else, I may not even get the apartment. (Side note: the manager I originally talked to had assured me that I wouldn’t even have to pay a new deposit… let’s not get started on that whole deal.)
Over this past weekend, I decided to forgo the whole process and simply move in with my friend Nick this fall, assuming he buys a house big enough for me to move in with him and his other roommate. All was well and good until today when I got a call from my complex asking if I was still interested in the apartment. Apparently, things are actually progressing along my original plans, and I will be able to move into the larger apartment in August. This whole process has been flip-flopping more than a mob of sandal-wearing beach bums.
sigh I just hope it will be over soon.
