I was much more awake last night when I talked to Becca. She refreshed my memory of some of the stuff I didn’t remember from the night before. All I have to say is, “Whoops.” Next time, I’ll try to keep the filter in check just a little more.

I took a hike up Parrott Mountain this afternoon. It was fantastic. I spent about two hours away from the house, and every once in awhile I stopped to take some pictures of the valley. I have no idea why I have never hiked all the way up before, but I am glad I did. The view from the top is absolutely breathtaking. On the way back down the mountain, it started to rain just a little bit. It was amazing — there were only a handful of clouds in the sky, it was sunny and beautiful out, and there was just enough of a sprinkle to cool me down for the last leg of my hike.

This afternoon I went on the aerial tramway up to the peak of another mountain on the other side of Estes. It was a beautiful ride. I felt like a bit of an “insider”, because while at the top of the mountain, it started to thunder. The rest of the people up there, mostly tourists, started running around like little ants trying to catch the tram back down the slope before it started to rain. Having been to Estes Park many times, I knew that thunder was usually just for show. It rarely does more than sprinkle up there in the summer. So it was rather vindicating to see that while everybody else was scurrying about to keep from getting wet, I was relaxed… and it never rained.
